I got an email from Fanfiction.net just now. And I think I had a hacked account there? I don’t remember making an account, but I apparently did. I reset the password and deleted everything the hacker posted. It didn’t look savoury, judging by the descriptions…

Pregnant Omega!Hanzo finds himself triggered by the toiletries you left out of order in the bathroom, then goes to get his favourite ice cream from the freezer to comfort himself. He sees that you’re clean out, then collapses onto the floor to ugly cry as if the world is out to get him.

Pregnant Omega!Genji cries twice during his pregnancy while you were out, because he was convinced you didn’t love him anymore and wouldn’t come back.

Imagine a younger Genji who thinks you can’t have love without sex or that sex is love and he gets into a relationship with some kind of ace and he’s very confused. Don’t they find me attractive?!? Is the relationship doing badly?! It’s not the case, but he’s a very worried bean at first.

Okay not starting drama or anything I swear and im not supporting pedo stuff its gross but has anyone ever notice that in high school (typically ages there being 15-18, 15 being freshman and 18 being senior) that teens dont naturally listen to adults or wait to be exclusively 18+ to have nsfw activity (drugs, sex, language) so I’m guessing a bigger major question would be, why do some people get upset for fics sometimes like that and include tags stating ‘By Real life standards’ or ‘In reality’?

I don’t know these tags, because it’s rare that I come across these kinds of fics, but I will try to address this. This might end up being long, so I’ll put a cut.

I think in big part, because Tumblr is an echo-chamber and a circlejerk. People are encouraging each other (whether it be good or bad).

Also, because consuming and enjoying literature with mature themes and teenage characters is automatically a slippery slope to enjoying mature things with teens irl. I’m not saying that’s true or not. This is just why I think people freak out. You don’t know if an adult is reading these fics.

And tbh, idc. There are plenty of published novels with mature themes with teenagers and children in them. Sometimes, it’s just teens being teens, and sometimes, the writing is fucked up. And that’s the point. It’s like rubbernecking while driving by a tragedy. It’s engrossing, and you can’t look away.

People should read these things if they want, but with a critical eye. That is my opinion. For example, I read Lolita, and while it disgusted me, it also impressed me. The author made you almost sympathize with a pedophile. It shook me to my core. But I was aware that what the narrator did was wrong, and I could appreciate the effect the novel had on me. The effect being the almost-sympathy.

If someone is reading these things for the sake of reading about teens having sex and getting off on it, well that’s different, of course. And you may disagree that published novels and fanfics can’t compare in this context, but I do think these judgemental people will judge others for reading those, too.

Maybe Ashe’s eye colour is all due to this being a fantasy world (I mean there’s crazier things, like a talking gorilla), but what if she paid to have her eye colour changed with the technology of the day? On her parents’ dime? Partially as a way to get back at them–because whose parents would approve of that??–and partially because she thought, “Yeah, I wanna be a badass, let’s get some red eyes.”

Also, because she’s renegade like Shepard. :3
