Genji’s dragon really loves to hang out with s/o. s/o and Genji are not yet in an established relationship and they both are shy about their feelings for each other.
Word count: 2048
You sat by yourself in a large windowsill, quietly enjoying
a book as gentle rays of sunshine beamed through the glass to give you warmth.
The day was a bit overcast, but there was just enough sunlight to keep you
comfortable.
While invested in your story, you feel an odd warmth gather
in your lap. Keeping your eyes on your book, you hesitantly reach down with one
hand to feel what’s going on down there. You feel… scales… and a long,
serpentine body. Is that a snake!?
You fall out of the windowsill with a shriek. Luckily, you
weren’t too far from the ground so you don’t get hurt too bad, but now your
head was whipping around looking for the spooky scary snake that dared snuggle
up to you. You were confused to find no such thing sitting around you, but as
soon as you looked up, you see a wispy green dragon floating in the air mere
inches from your nose. You let out a shriek and cover your eyes as a defensive
reflex. Staying still for a few moments, you start to think you may just be
hallucinating, but you feel a gentle warmth touch one of your hands. Something
akin to a lick, you think.
Slowly, you lower your hands from your face and see the
dragon is still there. It lets out a frustrated chuff before snuggling up to
your cheek, gently wrapping around your neck, and resting its head on your
shoulder so it could take a little nap.
Well, it would appear this creature didn’t mean you any
harm, but you were still incredibly weirded out by this situation. Where did
this dragon come from? Why does it want to sleep on you? Wait, dragons are
real? So many questions ran through your mind, you almost didn’t notice when
Genji showed up. You spotted his feet in your peripheral vision and looked up
to see a rather confused ninja.
“Oh! Genji!” you say, startled. “Sorry, sorry. I was reading but then I fell
and now I’m… here…”
With embarrassment clear on your face, you get back up on
your feet and try to avoid eye contact with Genji. Since the moment you first
saw him, you have had quite the crush on him. Even when you mistook him for an
omnic at first, you wished he would be yours. Of course you’d be caught in such
an embarrassing position in front of your dream man…
“So, um, what brings you here? I don’t usually see too many
agents in this corner of the Watchpoint.”
“I’m… actually not too sure,” Genji responds, as if in
thought. “I just felt like coming here. Like some instinctual pull brought
me—“
Just then, the little dragon wrapped around your neck perked
its head up and let out a defensive little snarl at Genji, to which Genji took
a step back and yelped in surprise… which then made you yelp out of fear.
“What is that
doing here?” Genji asked, pointing at the dragon. His visor hid his face, but
from his voice you could tell he was completely flabbergasted about all this.
“Oh! It uh, just kind of showed up? That’s actually why I
was on the floor. It scared me. Thought it was a snake… Heh, do you know
anything about this?”
Now that you mention it, you began to recall Genji having
something very similar—
“That’s my dragon!” Genji nearly shrieked. It almost sounded
like he was embarrassed about something, but you couldn’t think of anything
that could possibly cause him to feel that way.
“Yours? Oh, you
mean that glowy dragon that appears when you do your… sword thing? I didn’t
think it was… sentient.”
Genji held his hand out toward you and the dragon let out a
little growl before begrudgingly uncurling from your neck and twirling around
his arm. In an instant, the dragon vanished on a poof of green smoke and it was
as if the creature had never been there to begin with.
“It is, somewhat,” Genji said with a sigh. “Most of his
behaviors are derived from my own personality and mood. I didn’t even notice it
had emerged, let alone left me. I’m sorry it frightened you. I’ll be sure to
keep better control over it.”
Now you were feeling a little bad. You didn’t want him to
feel so self-conscious about this.
“No, no,” you assure him. “It’s not that big a deal. Now
that I know what it is, I wouldn’t mind having it show up again! It was
actually kind of warm as it rested on me. Kind of like a long cat.”
You could feel the color flushing in your cheeks as you
began to realize how silly you sounded. How dare you describe Genji’s cherished
dragon like that? That’s one way to ruin your chances with the guy you crushed
on.
Yet, it seemed he did not take offense. Instead, Genji let
out a little chortle and nodded his head in agreement.
“It is sort of like a cat, isn’t it? That just means it gets
into more trouble than it should. But, if you really don’t mind, I suppose it’s
alright. If only I knew what drew it to you in the first place.”
Oh, but he knew. He knew all too well but was too afraid to
admit it. Just like you had fallen so hard for him, Genji had fallen just as
hard for you if not harder. It would seem now his desires are finally starting
to become too much for him and his dragon thought it would be best to take
action. Sadly, Genji didn’t think you’d be willing to go out with him. Despite
his time with Zenyatta, he is still somewhat concerned with his appearance and
feels in his current state, he in unlovable—at least not in the intimate sense.
He can make friends and close companions just fine, but to take on a lover? It
was impossible, or so he thought.
With that, Genji simply gave you
a little wave and left you alone. But, even with him gone, you swore you could
still feel his presence deep within your chest.
That night, Genji dreamed of holding you in his arms. He
wanted to squeeze you tight, kiss you hard, and make you all his. Of course,
that was just a dream, but come morning, you woke up to find Genji’s dragon had
returned. The glowing green serpent was curled into a little ball on your
stomach, much like how a cat curls up. Does this thing even know it’s
reptilian? Regardless, you found it pretty cute, even if its presence did give
you a bit of a start when you woke up. You reach out and gently stroke the
dragon’s cute little head, then rub down along its back. The dragon lets out a
pleased purr and presses against your hand for more affection.
However, this contact must have sent a jolt through the
dragon, because as soon as you started petting it, Genji launched up from his
bed with a gasp and instantly knew his dragon had wandered off again. He was
correct in assuming his dragon had gone to be with you again. Damn, it was too
early for this…
Genji felt himself being consumed by an addictive warmth. It
was something that made his heart pound out of his chest and he silently cursed
his dragon as he simmered in jealousy. He needed to get his dragon back, but
most importantly, he needed to see you.
Genji got himself out of bed and rushed to put himself
together. It was as if every moment apart from you left him more and more
antsy. Once he looked decent, he rushed out of his room and simply followed the
compass in his heart to find where you and his dragon were hiding. It was
likely you were still in your room given the early hour, so he hoped he
wouldn’t be waking you up or anything.
You remained in your bed, gazing at the dragon with loving
eyes as you lazily stroked its limp body. It had become so relaxed under your
touch it was basically a limp noodle by now. After what felt like a good hour,
you hear a gentle knock on your door that still managed to make you turn stiff
with surprise. Then, as much as you didn’t want to, you carefully got yourself
out of bed and pulled the dragon off of you. The spirit was not pleased in the
slightest, but allowed it for it knew who was at the door.
You open it to see Genji standing there. Of course, you
think to yourself. You grab the dragon out of the air with a mastery that gave
Genji a shock. You had only known the dragon for less than a day and you
already handled it so well! It was good to see you were quickly establishing
such a good connection.
You hold the dragon out to Genji and he shyly takes it back.
The dragon dissipates as he makes contact with it.
“Heh… Sorry again. It would seem my dragon is quite fond of
you.”
You smile just a bit in your still sleepy state, picking up
on the adorable shyness in Genji’s voice.
“Well, I think I’m becoming quite fond of your dragon as
well,” you reply.
The ninja perks up just a bit at this. He couldn’t tell if
that tone you were using was flirty or not, but he considered it to be enough
to make a move. A very subtle move, he hopes.
He inquires, “Is that so? Perhaps we could, I don’t know,
arrange a meeting time of sorts? Just a time for us to hang out so you can
spend some time with my dragon. I mean— at least then maybe the darn thing
would stop running off like this. It’s much more bothersome than it lets on.”
You had a sneaking suspicion that this may or may not be
Genji asking you out on a date. You really really hoped that was the case. Your
heart swelled and you internally screamed at the thought of it, but you didn’t
want to get your hopes up too high either. You figured it would be best to play
it safe, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be totally relishing in this
opportunity.
“I think that sounds lovely,” you say after pretending to
think it over for a moment. “I’d love to spend more time with that sweet dragon
of yours! Oh—and you too, I guess.”
With a coy little wink, you tell him he can text you
whenever he is in the mood to hang and the two of you can just work it out from
there. Then, you shut the door and flop back onto your bed to try and get some
more sleep, but you just can’t. You’re too busy rolling around and screaming
into your pillow. A date with Genji! Well, not a date exactly. But still! A
DATE WITH GENJI!
Meanwhile, Genji has a silent celebration of his own on the
other side of your door, pumping his fists into the air and letting out soft,
whispered “yesssss”s under his breath. Looks like that whole “get a date
through your pet” also applies to ancient spirit dragons. Even his dragon
emerges once again to twirl around his head and let out a few excited chuffs
and rub up against Genji’s face plate with glee.
Still, the dragon’s plan to break the ice has worked, but it
thinks it still needs to help Genji, at least until they get married. The
dragon ceases its celebration to look back at your door, then glance at Genji.
“Don’t you dare,” Genji whispers angrily and gestures for
the dragon to return to him, but nope. The dragon reveals a mischievous toothy
grin and phases through the door to snuggle up to you again.
Genji whines and slowly sinks down to the floor with his
head in his hands. His descent is accompanied by a long “noooooooooooooo” until
he hits the floor. This was so embarrassing. He wishes he could put a leash on
that thing.
Notes: Hanzo is an akita inu. Genji is cross between an akita and a shiba inu. They share a father (I like the idea of Genji having a different mother to explain some of their differences in personality). Genji is a cyborg in this AU, so his tail isn’t as full as Hanzo’s like it used to be. Lucio is a black labrador. He has all the love for everyone, the excitement, and the loudness that the breed has, and he’s the type that would jump in and save any drowning person without a second thought. McCree is a mutt with a straight, bushy tail. Whatever breeds he is, he is slow to trust, sometimes needs his space, and has a history of being an escape artist. This probably points to a less-than-loving upbringing.
Three out of four of your pups are morning people. Genji and Lucio are already wrestling on the rug by the time you get up. Genji’s face is bare. He only wears his mask when outside the house, around strangers. They take pretend nips at each other, rolling back and forth. Lucio is grinning. He’s just here to play. Genji is smiling, but he’s more serious about winning. Hanzo is reading something on his phone, but he watches them from the corner of his eye on the couch in case it gets too rough for his liking.
You come into the room, and your two pups get up from the floor to come greet you. Lucio’s black tail wags as he smiles and kisses your cheek. You stick out your chin and offer both cheeks up for their kisses with a happy smile. Genji sneaks a lick to your neck. You shove him playfully and laugh. Lucio giggles, and they return to the rug to play.
You sit next to Hanzo. Wordlessly, he leans on you. He kisses your shoulder. His tail wags once, because he feels complete with you safe at his side. Genji easily pins Lucio to the ground. Lucio was born the runt of his siblings, but he makes up for it with a big heart. Genji’s curly tail wags excitedly, but then he stiffens and looks to the door. As does Hanzo. They can sense someone approaching the house.
“Who is it?” you ask.
“The mail carrier,” Hanzo says. “She always comes too close. I don’t appreciate it.”
“Your tail says different.” It wags lazily. Hanzo is thinking about disagreeing, despite this, so you press the matter gently. “Why don’t you go meet her? You might like her.”
“I must decline, Master.”
You shrug. “Alright.”
The mail goes through the slot in the door. Hanzo gets up to fetch it. He looks it over before handing it to you.
“Thank you,” you tell him brightly. “Good boy.”
You offer your cheek to him, and he gives it a peck before going to the kitchen to make you breakfast, curly tail high and proud against his lower back. It’s white and perfectly fluffy from being groomed by Hanzo himself.
“OW!” is the sudden shout from Lucio.
Genji backs off and starts to apologize, but Hanzo is already in the kitchen doorway, telling his brother to come help with the food. Genji doesn’t immediately obey. Instead, he sits up straight and looks to you for orders. Partially because you’re the master, and partially because it irritates Hanzo.
“Go on,” you say.
He comes to give you a quick kiss on the cheek before going to the kitchen with a happy few wags from the affection.
“What’s all this darned racket?” grumbles Jesse.
He comes sauntering down the hall from the bedroom. Lucio’s shout woke him up. His tail hangs lazily as he walks, still in his pajamas.
“What’s up, Man?” Lucio asks him hopefully.
“I don’t wanna play right now, Bud,” he replies.
Lucio is a little disappointed. His floppy, black ears droop, but he quickly recovers. He goes to the kitchen to chat with the brothers. Maybe annoy Hanzo. Who knows.
McCree collapses onto the couch next to you and lays his head on your lap. He’s a warm weight on your thighs. You brush his messy hair back from his face with your fingers and pull gently on his soft, chocolate-brown ears.
“What do you wanna do today?” you ask him.
“Sleep,” he mumbles.
“We can’t just do that!”
The other three convince McCree to agree to a trip to the park, but only if they let him lay under the shade of a tree. They agree, everyone piles into your car. The ride there is with all the windows rolled down, of course.
Genji and Lucio race from the parking lot after you park the car. Hanzo is hanging back, fixing his ponytail.
“I don’t know why ya bother, if it’s just gonna get mussed every time we take a car ride,” Jesse says.
Hanzo hmphs and breaks into a run to catch up with Genji and Lucio. He won’t admit it easily, but he worries how the other hybrids will react to his brother. Genji won’t lose a fight, but it weighs heavy on his heart for hours afterwards if anyone makes a snide comment or otherwise picks on him.
“How’s it smell?” you ask Jesse as you both walk along a gravel path that leads to the park’s lake.
Jesse raises his chin to take a few sniffs.
“Smell’s nice. Like flowers and wet earth. One other dog here, but she’s far away. On her own, so she probably won’t bother us none. Also, wet dog. That’d be Lucio probably already jumped in the lake.”
You and Jesse catch up to the others. He’s right, Lucio is already swimming, with his dreads tied up on top of his head to avoid getting them wet.
“Throw me something! C’mon! I’ll catch it,” he calls to Genji with a daring grin.
“You’re on,” he replies.
Jesse disappears to take his nap. You have a nice sit to watch your boys have fun. Genji throws whatever branch he can find for Lucio to fetch. Eventually, Genji gets restless and goads Hanzo into chasing him.
As soon as Genji growls at Hanzo’s overbearing nature is when you know it’s time to go. They’ve worn themselves out. You stand up and bark an order at them all to come before a real fight starts.
“Genji in front with Jesse,” you say. “Lucio, Hanzo, heel.”
Being told what to do is what they need right now, they’re so tired. And they will sleep well tonight.
There are enough beds in the house for everyone. Sometimes even Lucio or Jesse sleep on the biggest couch if they feel like it. But they still insist on squabbling a little over who gets to sleep with you just before bedtime. Hanzo gets grumpy. Lucio gives you puppy eyes. Genji gets touchy-feeling. Jesse just sneaks onto the bed, and the others find him and pull him off. So you instituted a chart with their names on it in a certain order to fix the issue.
“Tonight, it’s Lucio’s turn,” you announce.
Three tails sag as the other boys walked away.
Lucio lasts two seconds trying to play it cool before he wiggles over to cuddle, his tail thudding repeatedly on the mattress. Hanzo normally goes to sleep with space between you, but you wake up with him protectively and awkwardly draped over you. Genji likes to sleep back-to-back, and sometimes he wakes you when he dreams of chasing something. His legs twitching and his tail wagging, which has somehow made its way between your legs. Jesse is the only one that sleeps keeping to himself and stays that way, like he had to sleep in a small space with many siblings as a puppy. He sleeps in, and you usually wake him with gentle pets.
Hey.. so heres my best shot after not writing for a long time!
You woke up warm, like you were put in a blanket. It was when you looked up you saw his face, you realized that warmth was coming from your giant, bastion sized boyfriend. His hair was graying as you snuggled yourself into his hold. “Reinhardt…” you gently put a hand on his jaw. Your hand only covered half of his cheek, and you felt his hand come up and cover the back of your head. “Good morning” you whispered rather softly, his eyes gazing at yours. You couldnt ask for any thing better.
Someone filled a very nice request for me a while ago, and I was inspired to write little drabbles of the reverse. Reinhardt/Hanzo/Genji who need physical contact from reader.
Hanzo:
It was a lazy afternoon. The sun was out. The light was angled to softly illuminate the living room but avoid anyone’s eyes. You chose this room to settle onto the sofa. You had your phone out and were catching up on your Tumblr feed.
Hanzo settled nearby to do the same, but with his Reddit feed. He sipped some tea (with honey, to make the low-grade tea leaves he had to put up with more palatable).
You got restless after a while. Maybe the bed was cool. You wouldn’t mind laying on it and maybe napping. Whatever happened.
You rose from your seat and walked towards the bedroom.
Hanzo’s chin rose in surprise, which you caught at the peripheral of your vision.
“What is it, Honey?” you asked. His eyebrows came together, a wordless request. “Did you want me to stay?”
“Yes,” he replied simply.
Hanzo opened his arms for you to sit on his lap. You did so, and he wrapped his arms around you to continue to view his phone. His warm and firm embrace enveloped you. He just wanted you near.
Genji:
You slept in. You couldn’t help it. The bed was the perfect temperature, the sheets seeming to mimic the soothing embrace of the womb, a time before every human is born into a world full of worries.
You went to roll over to check the time. You liked to get up before Genji was finished meditating to make you both coffee. But a cyborg-shaped lump stopped you.
Genji’s head turned towards you from his seat position. His back to you, so you saw the back of his messy black hair normally hidden under his helm.
“You’re awake.”
You hummed in reply.
He turned around and took up the position on the big spoon. His arm pulled you towards his front, tucked you there.
“I don’t want coffee. I want you,” he whispered to the back of your neck.
Alright, then. Guess you weren’t getting up just yet.
Reinhardt:
You just finished the dishes. You pulled off the yellow, rubber gloves, then turned to leave the kitchen.
“Honigbiene!”
Reinhardt surprised you by coming into the kitchen. He hefted you into the air with his arms crossed under your butt.
You didn’t appreciate the surprise invasion of your personal space. But he held you so you were taller than him and smiled up at you like you were the stars in the sky.He moved in for a kiss, completely winning you over. You shared a noisy kiss and asked him what he wanted.
“Just come sit with your old man,” Reinhardt requested.
He sounded so content with that idea that you couldn’t refuse. You knew him well enough that you could predict that he would fall asleep with you snuggled up to his shoulder and his arm around your waist. You welcomed the closeness from knowing he felt comfortable enough and wanted to sleep with you against him.
You had plenty of time on your hands sitting at your desk at work. You got into brewing coffee properly and ordered better coffee grounds than the watchpoint previously had. Other agents besides Angela started stopping by for your coffee. You became known for it. Angela noticed you weren’t drinking it yourself and bought a separate machine to keep yourself stocked with decaf.
“There’s money for this?” you asked. “When I joined, I was sleeping in a cot.”
Angela shot you a knowing look with eyebrows high and said, “Investors.”
You let that sink in, then you asked, “So people know about us then?”
“Ah, they did since the museum mission.”
“Oh,” you replied. You did remember seeing it in the news online. “Well, then, how come no one’s tried to stop us besides Talon?”
She shrugged.
“I don’t have time for politics. I just want you all to be healthy.”
You nodded and smiled.
“Of course.”
Angela sipped her coffee with both hands on the mug. She walked over towards her office, her stocky heels tock tock tocking along the sterile floor.
She spun on her heel back to you.
“Genji didn’t mention the investor money? That man is half the reason we got those investors, eliminating key Talon underlings. Come to think of it, that might be why no one’s up in arms. Must be convenient for certain governments.”
She wrinkled her nose.
“You don’t seem happy about this,” you stated.
“It’s not right. So many statements were made that Overwatch couldn’t be trusted, but now it’s alright to give us funds? And in secret, as well.”
Seems the issue had been festering beneath her hard work and optimism, as she gestured passionately with her free hand as she spoke. It was probably even more frustrating that she knew the funds were helping her treat agents, as well. She couldn’t turn the help down. You felt for her, but you were more interested in what Angela told you about what Genji was doing. He never told you exactly what he was doing. Because he was a senior agent, you assumed he knew what he was doing. Maybe it’s time to ask.
The rest of the day went really well. To your delight, the babies got more active in the afternoon. You absentmindedly rubbed each spot they kicked; it was a little unnerving to see the skin stretch out like that. Genji kept sending you dick pics at random times throughout the day, along with a message that he’d call later. Good, you could ask him then. Genji seemed to be enjoying himself taking the photos, becoming more enthusiastic. Adding ridiculously seductive faces. Bending over to pretend to suck himself off. To be honest, you were just glad to see him at all. The naughty nature of it was secondary. And seeing his face made you more excited than usual for his video call that night.
“I can’t stop thinking about you,” he began the call with. “So every time I do, I send you a picture.”
“Me?” You didn’t feel attractive. You felt like a beached beluga. “I am huge!”
“I know! It’s so cute.” Genji whispered the last word reverently.
Genji dropped into a cross-legged position. The video feed was jostled as he did so, and he plopped his metal-enforced chin in his palm to gaze at you. The way he smiled at you with genuine love in his eyes made you feel unexpectedly naked to your feline lover. You blushed and dipped your chin.
Genji adjusted his legs, settling back into the same position. The end of his tail whipped back and forth.
“I wish to be home,” he said. “With you.”
You agreed with all your heart, of course. But you also fidgeted, unused to the sudden laser focus of Genji’s attention.
“Genji, I, uhh…”
“Hm?”
“I wanted to ask you about something.”
“Anything.”
“What is it you’re doing out there? I know that you’re working hard, but…”
Genji pulled his tail forward to hang onto it. His expression faltered as he explained up front that it was very dangerous what he was doing. However, he was the only one able to pull off these missions. Not even Hanzo could.
“Don’t tell Hanzo, but if not for his dragons, I might be the stronger warrior,” Genji murmured quietly to you as if his brother might overhear.
You shook your head, amused at his boast.
He went on to confidently state that he was taking the utmost care not to get into trouble. Hanzo was there to back him up on most of the assassination missions, anyway. You don’t know why Genji looked worried a minute ago. Everything added up in your mind. All you had to do was wait for the babies to come, with increasing discomfort.
Honestly, you had forgotten about the details of the birth. Hid from them, mentally. Things were going to be fine, though. With Angela, the best surgeon in the world as far as you knew in charge of the cesarean, Genji to be back in time to support you, and Talon being managed, there was no need to worry.
The next day, you nearly didn’t make it out of bed. You couldn’t believe you could get more tired. It couldn’t be from all the hauling around of your extra weight. It wasn’t /that/ much extra weight; you just looked ready to explode with babies. You’re bent slightly backwards trying to manage waddling around the watchpoint.
Since it’s very obvious that you’re pregnant and near the end, you can’t escape the comments. The first time you stumbled upon everyone having a lunch together in the mess hall, you were greeted with happy applause. You couldn’t decide if you wanted to waddle back out the door or enjoy the attention.
“Where’s the father?!” Reinhardt asked from his seat at the table. “He should be here to carry you wherever you go.”
He was only teasing, but it did sting in the slightest. You found a seat next to Angela, nearly falling into her lap on the way down. You adjusted yourself for the most comfort you were going to get. Which wasn’t much. Reinhardt beams at you and looks ready to offer to carry you around for the rest of your term in Genji’s stead.
“Where’s Winston?” you asked Angela. You took her hand and put it to your stomach. She liked to feel the babies move, and it was nice to be touched by someone who cared while Genji was gone.
She starts droning a list, “Being a workaholic. Not listening to me. Eating peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Ugh. His only concession was using whole wheat bread.”
“Maybe he’s making up for my not working at all,” you quipped.
“Your job is to eat for three!” said Tracer, pushing a small plate towards you with a lemon danish on it.
You happily pounced on it, while conversations continued around you.
One agent stopped eating and checked their buzzing phone. They frowned at the screen. Then another took out their phone, then another. Pretty soon everyone had their intense gazes trained on their little screens. You only noticed when you finished inhaling the danish.
Chairs scraping back against the floor and the drumming of shoed footsteps alerted and startled you. Everyone was clearing out. Angela placed her hand on your shoulder before getting up.
“Emergency,” she said. “I’ll explain when I can.”
It was serious. That’s all you could tell.
Mercy called your phone herself later, instead of going through Athena with a transmission.
“I’m sorry, Dear,” she said.
“Why?”
Panic bubbled up in your chest.
“It’s Genji,” she said. “He missed three check-ins. We really don’t know what happened.”
“I see.”
You answered because it was expected of you. Mercy explained that they were all searching in small teams. She said some other things, but you only remembered that Genji was missing and they were looking. She tried to reassure you and then hung up.
You wandered around with only half your mental capacities working. Useless. You hated it, but you couldn’t do anything else. Genji promised he’d be home. He promised. You kept checking the messages from Angela to see if you read them wrong. With both palms pressed to your bulging belly, you couldn’t answer the question of what you’d do if he didn’t come back to you.
You did know what you’d do if he came back alive, you mused, narrowing your eyes and dropping into the nearest chair. You tapped your foot on the floor and balling your fists tightly against your stomach. You pictured your open hand slapping Genji across the face for doing this to you.
The image was vague, so it slipped from your mind easily. You wilted over, almost bursting into tears. You couldn’t hurt Genji, even if he hurt you. You didn’t mean it, you were just frustrated and alone.
Hanzo had this honourable notion in his mind that it was his job to protect you while Genji could not. He obtained permission to go off-duty to do just that. He returned to the watchpoint to inform you of his intentions to make sure Genji came back to find you safe and sound. You had a vague, agreeable answer. You looked so lost. Didn’t say much. It melted some of the ice Hanzo had frozen his own heart with.
Maybe he could be a good uncle and make up for being such a terrible brother, he thought…
Hanzo had no time for such musings. He set about guarding you from the shadows.
He disappeared, and you gave it little thought. You knew he was a ninja, and you were used to Genji and Hanzo’s brand of weird. Not to mention, you had more immediate issues to deal with. One was practically living on the toilet. Before Angela left, she confirmed for you, with her lips twitching almost into an amused smile, that the baby girl was head down on your bladder.
Hanzo spent a lot of time outside of your window, hidden in the shadows on the nearest rocky wall of the mountain of Gibraltar. His ears twitched every which way, listening to every little sound. You barely left your room, since you no longer had a job. You slept a lot. You read digital books a lot. You cried a little. Hanzo’s heart melted some more.
That made him grimace in frustration that Genji’s precious Overwatch had not found and brought him home yet. Dr. Ziegler was forced to return back to the base as the date for your cesarean was approaching very soon. That gave Hanzo an idea. He should bring Genji home.
You would have convinced Hanzo to stay. You’re sure it’s what Genji wanted. But you were asleep, so off he went.
It was after finishing a mission in Hanamura, Hanzo watched how you relaxed underneath a cherry blossom on a bench with Hana, laughing with the young MEKA Pilot over something that he couldn’t hear, but when Hana pointed him out the smile that lit up your face at seeing him made his heart swell with joy.
He realized that he was in love with your smile, in love with how he put it there just with you seeing him.
Genji:
During a pleasant outing is when Genji realized he loved you and just how much he loves you. The way you stayed close to him, holding his hand and just being close to him made him hold onto you even tighter, never wanting to let you go. It was your warmth and kindness that he fell in love with first, and then he realized on this outing that he loves everything about you.
Which made the kiss he shared with you at the end of the outing all the better.
I wrote this because I just needed some self-indulgence. Just needed to write some fluffy-smut. Only 1.5k (thank God). Also because I’ve been in love and adore @imagine-this-overwatch ‘s Hybrid AU. Inspired by these posts XX
Today has been quite the day for you and your pup, Jesse. Your home had been quite loud and full of people not an hour earlier. You like to celebrate the Fourth of July during the day. Versus the majority with their festivities during the night time. With good music, good food, good drinks and good company.
Especially ever since you took in Jesse; wholly because of him when you put thought into it. Most holidays the hybrid pup’s just as festive, if not more hyper than you are (he’s naturally excited on behalf of you often. And often far more excited for you than you are about whatever thing you’re looking forward to). But there are two holidays in particular he loathes.
It had been a long and agonizing day for you. Your body
creaked and ached with every step you took, your eyelids heavier than lead, and
your attitude was awfully sour. You grumpily trudged home in the rain, your
umbrella hardly doing you any good for the wind blew the water directly at you.
You didn’t want to look at anyone, you didn’t want to talk to anyone, you
didn’t want anyone touching you. You swore if anyone came within an inch of
your being you’d bite the closest limb off their body. All you wanted to do was
go home and sulk, scream, punch something—just about anything to take the edge
off.
In the midst of your world-ending fantasies, you finally
make your way home. You fumble with your keys, grumbling to yourself as you
keep grabbing the wrong one. You practically rip the handle out of the door as
you turn it and the door opens with a slam against the wall as you storm your
way in and toss all your things to the floor. Screw cleaning up, that was a
problem for future you.
You make your way to the living room so you can lay on the
couch and mope, but— there he is. Your sweet, special boy. With all the
negativity you’ve experienced today, you almost forgot he existed. Your sweet
pup Jesse was sitting on the couch, looking over his shoulder and directly at
you with a smile on his face. You could hear the gentle thump of his tail whacking the cushions due to the pure joy he had
of seeing you again. Either he hadn’t noticed you were in a bad mood, or he
chose to ignore it. Either way, he quickly rises from his seat and rushes over
to you, nearly tripping in the process. Jesse pulls you into a tight embrace
and already you can feel the stressors of your day melting away. You gently
nuzzle your face into the chest fur that always fluffs out from his shirt. He
never buttons the top-most button on his shirts because he simply has too much
fluff. He thinks it’s embarrassing, you think it’s adorable.
“Hi, hi, hi!” he says excitedly as he licks your face. “I
missed you! You were gone too long! I was afraid you’d never come back. Never
do that again.” You try to conceal the roll of your eyes. He does this every
time you leave, no matter how long you are gone for.
“I know, I know,” you respond, wrapping your arms around
Jesse’s beefy body and gently stroking his back to get him to calm down. “I
don’t have to go back out for a while. I’m all yours.”
Jesse couldn’t contain his excitement, letting out high
pitched whimpers and whines as he smothered every inch of you with his slobbery
dog kisses. Such a big baby, you think to yourself. Ever since you saved him
from the streets he’s been awfully clingy. Of course, you let him do it because
he’s earned these daily pleasures after a life of hardship. You have only
yourself to blame for this spoiled little beast.
“Alright, alright. Down boy. Down,” you command once you’ve
had enough. Jesse responds immediately, ceasing his kisses and letting you go.
However, the sad look in his eyes were a little overkill. You tell him to sit
on the couch and wait for you, which he does without hesitation. Once he’s
settled in, you go to your room to change into your cozy pajamas. Perhaps you
just sit and wait a few moments to wear down Jesse’s patience. Every now and
then you like to test how good of a dog he is, and he often blows your expectations
out of the water. Such a good, well-trained boy. You couldn’t have asked for a
better puppy.
You slowly make your way back to the living room and as soon
as you are within Jesse’s eyesight you can hear the thumping of his tail
hitting the cushions yet again. He’s practically bouncing in his seat, dying to
lunge at you and take you in his arms. Before his resolve breaks, though, you
raise a hand and tell him firmly to stay.
Jesse’s body goes rigid, eyes locked on you like a delicious piece of meat
dangling just out of reach. You sit down beside your lovely pup and gently pat
your lap. With this, Jesse becomes far more relaxed and a smile makes its way
back to his face. He removes is hat and sets it on the coffee table before he
lays back and rests his head on your lap, his tail wagging lazily as he lets
out a soft grunt in approval. Now that is the adorable puppy you’ve come to
love so much.
Jesse shuts his eyes and you run your hand through his messy
hair, taking a moment to massage his floppy ears when your hands got there.
“Mnn… love ya so much,” he whispers before giving your
fingers gentle kitten lick with that tongue he simply can’t keep to himself. “I
love you too,” you mutter in response, trying to keep your composure as your
chest swelled with pure love and adoration for this sweet pup.
Now, this. This is what made everything worth it. Coming
home to Jesse, your Jesse, always made everything feel okay. You don’t even
remember why you were in such a bad mood in the first place. All that mattered
was you had your pup in your arms and you can finally put this day to rest.
You lean back on the couch and shut your eyes. The couch
dips a bit as you feel Jesse adjust to the new position and lay on top of you.
He was a little heavy, but not suffocating. Just enough pressure to give you
that feeling of home. You press a gentle kiss to Jesse’s cheek,
then relax and let your consciousness drift away.
Jesse refused to leave your side the entire night, and when
you woke up the next morning, you were greeted to a warm, loving kiss from the
pup you’ve come to adore.
“Try again,”
Genji is practically grinning underneath his mask. He hasn’t gone easy on you this round, and while you’re getting better, it’s not good enough to beat him.
“I’m tired,” you sigh.
You throw down your training sword and collapse on to the floor. The mat below provides a safe fall, as well as a nice surface to cool yourself down on.
“You’re doing so well,”
Genji joins you on the floor. Small streams of steam flow out of his mask as he takes it off, revealing his scarred face to you. He places a small kiss to your cheek, making you smile and blush.
“Thanks,” you mumble.
Maybe another try was in order after all.
