“Genji!” You were aggravated at his actions as of recently. He had a new habit of ignoring you whenever a mission went wrong. You followed him to his room, complaining the whole way. He didn’t even bother to turn to you or mutter a single word of acknowledgement.
Once he got through his door, he finally turned to you, and you felt warmth in your cheeks as his red eyes found yours. His sudden words pulled you out of whatever trance he had you in. “I am sorry, but I’d prefer to be alone.” Then his door shut in front of you, putting a physical barrier between you to match the one you felt was there mentally.
Not knowing what to do, you slowly turn around and sit outside his door, knowing eventually he must come out. You know how Genji is, and knew eventually he would speak to you, but you couldn’t help but be mad at him. You couldn’t understand why he only showed this anger towards you. He seemed content around the other team members, but around you he was completely different.
After a hour or so of waiting, you feel the exhaustion from the mission hit you, and your eyelids get heavy, and despite your best efforts, you fall asleep and didn’t wake up when Genji carried you to his bed.
You were walking down the hall to get something only found in a particular supply closet. A crash on the other side of the wall put you on alert.
Several more crashes and some metallic thuds told you which room the commotion was in. Someone else might have bailed, but you were hired by Blackwatch, not Overwatch, for a reason. You had a careless streak.
You pushed open the door. A pair of tiny red lights danced and whirled in the darkness. You had a hunch about who it was and flicking on the lights confirmed it. Genji was pulling his human fist back from a deeply dented metal cabinet when you laid eyes on him. His head whipped towards you to acknowledge your presence, then he threw a small, metal table, it flying across the room and landing with a startling clang.
“Hey, hey! Stop!”
To your surprise, he did. He stood tall, shoulders back. His eternally angry, red eyes glared at you. It wasn’t hard to miss the red rivulets of blood flowing down his fingers to drip to the floor. His other hand…
You knew why he was angry, but you didn’t think he would tear apart an exam room because of it. During the last Blackwatch operation, the rumour is he lost control of his temper, got reckless, and damaged his cybernetic hand. It was beyond repair, and he was benched, awaiting a replacement hand. Thin wires hung uselessly from his wrist. Still, that was no excuse to trash things.
You gave him a stern look and reached towards him. “Give me your hand.”
It was hard to see, what with his face mostly covered with his silver metal, but the muscles around his eyes relaxed. Genji faced you, turning his palm upward and offering it to you.
Only then did you take a step closer. You were surprised he stopped at all, let alone let you inspect his self-inflicted wounds.
You only spoke to explain what you were going to do. Cleaning the blood off. Disinfectanting (because that was gonna hurt). Wrapping bandages around his palm. You didn’t think he wanted inane chatter right now.
When you went to get the bandages, you were worried you’d turn back and find only a cloud of smoke. Everyone knew he’d had ninja training. Instead, you turned back to find him locking gazes with you, unblinking. If it was anyone else, you would consider it a bit rude. With Genji, however, your heartbeat sped up. He scared you.
You powered through it and began wrapping the bandages. You glanced behind you at the door. If someone came in and broke the spell, you wouldn’t put it past this man to shove you violently away and leave. Genji was currently burning holes in your face with his eyes, but you ignored him. You finished and stepped back, looking at him expectantly.
Genji glanced at his hand and then back at you. He also waited.
You raised an eyebrow.
“How am I supposed to do anything with one hand covered in bandages?” He did not sound happy.
“Oh.”
Only a crude solution came to mind. In your defense, you were under pressure. You walked away from him, more confident this time that he wouldn’t disappear, and opened a drawer. You pulled a large size latex glove from one of the boxes nestled inside. You returned and pulled it onto his hand.
Genji hissed in pain but didn’t move or jerk his hand away. You straightened your posture, looking at him expectantly again.
“That might help,” you said. And then, against your gut feelings, you offered, “Come see me if you need a new one.”
Genji held his hand up to inspect it, flexing his fingers. He hissed again, softly.
“It will do. Thank you.”
He nodded at you and left. Silently. It was creepy.
Genji healed in a couple of days. You knew due to your access to his medical records, that nanites in his blood stream repaired the damage for him. You were both jealous and glad he healed so fast. Maybe he wouldn’t punch things out of anger now.
You were falling asleep when you had those thoughts, but a human-made noise startled you awake. A soft moan. Deepish. Male.
You heard it again, and now you were fully awake. Also able to tell that it was coming from below your bunk in the communal sleeping quarters of Blackwatch. You had been working your ass off at your job for so long with no time for your own needs that you immediately froze and listened closely, addicted to what you heard. Getting off on it, but not touching yourself just yet.
Sheets rustled and then you remembered. Genji was your bunkmate. For whatever reason, he never slept in that bed, and you accepted this months ago.
Oh, so he wasn’t using his human fist to punch, but to stroke his dick while everyone slept around him.
The animal part of your brain demanded you stay awake until the noises stopped. That you imagine in detail what was going on below you. You knew, again from his records, that his penis was flesh and blood. It was probably engorged with that blood right now. Filled out and thick with bulging veins. You wondered, did he go fast and hard to get to his end quickly? Or did he stop often and go slow to build a climactic finish?
You partially got your answer when he finished in ten minutes one night and then thirty the next.
Otherwise, it was hard to tell. The ninja kept his strokes silent, but his moans escaped. And he always finished with a short groan (and his eyes rolling back behind his upper lids, you hoped). This continued for a week with you growing increasingly frustrated. You got an hour less of your precious sleep each night.
It didn’t help that you hadn’t slept with anyone for a long while. Thoughts of his dick followed you everywhere and made it difficult to concentrate on your job. Every time you bent down, you were disappointed Genji wasn’t there to spear you from behind. Every dark closet seemed like the perfect spot for a mid-afternoon tryst. Paperwork was hell, and you could not concentrate on something so boring. You considered masturbating yourself at night in retaliation, but you didn’t want to deal with the mess. You needed your sleep to work. Genji had plenty of time, but how was he dealing his own mess, anyway?
In the early morning, when everyone had left to use the communal bathrooms or eat breakfast, you snuck a peek under Genji’s pillow.
A half-empty box of tissues. This confirmed everything.
The next time he touched himself while you were trying to sleep, you were going to catch him in the act.
That night, you heard the telltale sounds under your bunk. Right away, you scrambled off your bed and down the short ladder. Being a ninja, Genji heard you as soon as you first moved and covered his erection with his blanket. You found him staring back at you with those unnerving red, glowing eyes, acting like nothing was amiss. That pissed you off.
“I know what you were doing,” you spat as quietly as you could, poking a finger in his direction. “Don’t act innocent! You’re keeping me up! And then I have to spend all day thinking about you jerkin’ off while I’m trying to-”
Genji leaned forward swiftly and pulled your face to his, silencing you with a kiss. He did it so fast, you only had time to gasp. Which left your mouth open and vulnerable to his tongue.
“Sorry, but you were talking too much.”
Genji pulled back a ways, the blanket slipping down to reveal his cock. You chased him for more contact with his lips, to memorize where each scar was. You misjudged how much you needed some and found yourself straight up climbing into his lap. In case he had any doubts about how far you were willing to go, you ground your clothed clit along the underside of his shaft. Genji let you kiss all over his lips, and he slipped a finger in the side of your panties to tentatively feel at your slit. Surprisingly timid for such a man.
You switched to grinding down on his hand, and he finally got the hint. Genji pulled back from the kiss with a soft pop and slid down on the bed a bit to line himself up. He tugged your panties further to the side. As soon as the head pressed at your cunt, you sat down.
It was a tight fit, and it burned, but this wasn’t a situation where you could stop and talk about it. You forced your way down until you were stomach-to-stomach with him. His body was solid but warm. It had been a while for Genji, too, judging by each breath that caught in his throat. It was then that your body signaled to you that you needed to empty your bladder.
Too fucking bad, you were about to get laid.
You lifted your hips, feeling more burn at your entrance, and lowered them, experimenting with the pace.
“Slow, slow,” he whispered.
You took pity on him and downgraded your efforts to flexing your hips against his lap. His thickness rubbed nicely against the front of your inner walls. You experimented until you found the perfect angle, then went about steadily building the sweet pressure deep in your belly. Working yourself against his cock in the darkness while everyone slept none-the-wiser. You kind of ignored Genji, who had a quiet gasp for each time your cunt squeezed his cock. Which was often, because everything felt fantastic about being filled right now, full bladder included.
Genji hooked his fingers around your right ankle, nudged at the other with his cybernetic wrist, pulling your legs further apart. It caused you to sink further down onto his cock. It burned again, but you didn’t care.
Genji eyes were thin red lines, his eyelids almost meeting. The poor thing must be close already. He held back his end with periodic grunts. You had no choice but to go at your clit dry to catch up. You shoved your hand into your panties. Not your usual way, but you didn’t want him to finish way before you.
The next thing you knew, Genji’s hand left your ankle to cover your mouth as you arched into the darkness. He thrust upwards, releasing his seed deep.
The sudden thrust hurt, and you bit his hand.
Your clit was done, but your cunt was ready for more. It was too close to bedtime for this shit. In your post-sex haze, you just leaned forward onto Genji’s chest. Your head was lifted a bit for each of his deep breaths. You thought he’d want you off, but all he did was rest his human hand lightly on your lower back.
You jerked awake. Luckily, it was still dark, and therefore still night. You eased yourself up off the ninja’s lap, his limp dick falling out of you. It left behind a soreness that extended deep inside. You panicked a bit when you heard a lewd squelch.
You froze, listening for anyone awake. You heard heavy breathing and McCree snoring in his corner. That’s it. You pulled your panties back into place, covering up the half-dried mess there.
You lifted a knee and backed off the bed onto the floor. You stumbled as soon as your feet hit the ground. Your thighs were as sore as your vagina. Genji hummed sleepily and rolled over, pulling his blanket up to his shoulders. Completely ignoring you.
Fine, you ass, you thought.
You scrambled up to your bunk, then remembered your need to pee. You growled quietly to yourself and pulled your blanket over your head, promising to use the toilet in the morning.
You woke in a fog after sleeping terribly. You writhed about on the mattress before forcing yourself to sit upright.
“Don’t get pregnant,” said Commander Reyes, walking past fully dressed, putting your sorry state to shame.
You groaned and flopped violently back onto the bed.
Genji hadn’t been at the watchpoint for longer than a full day for the past month. Not having a work schedule for yourself, you lost track of what day it was.
You did offer to do paperwork, but Winston waved your suggestion off. “Athena does all that.”
So you doubted yourself that Genji seemed be going on longer and longer missions. Overall, you were okay. Your breasts were so nice and full, and your stomach didn’t have as many stretch marks as you had feared. You should have been grateful that you were safe and healthy. The piece missing from your heart disagreed. Whispered to you that it was unfair. You wondered why you should get out of bed, to face the loneliness. The tempting sleepiness pulled you back down. You closed your eyes, chasing the split second before unconsciousness that was free of any worry. The extra sleep had the opposite effect that sleep normally has. You spent the day feeling like shit and looking like it, eyebags and all.
You gave up training after falling and bruising your hip. Your centre of gravity had shifted without you noticing. You sat there, annoyed. You punched the floor, resentful that the further along you got, the more your job was becoming ‘being pregnant.’ You took your frustration out on Genji’s cock when he was home. Making him lay back while you rode him until you tired yourself out. Your fingers gave you a less satisfying orgasm, and it was getting harder to reach properly. Genji welcomed your use of him, contentedly drinking in your curves with his hungry gaze. As soon as your thighs refused to obey you, he guided you back slowly with his hands at your back to avoid ripping his knot out of your cunt. Genji curled around your pregnant stomach to give love to your swollen breasts. These was some of your best times with him lately, because his knot locked inside you guaranteed some quality time. You traded tender kisses and discussed possible baby names until he had to leave again.
Genji noticed the growing length of his missions, as well, and picked up the habit of bringing you a small stuffed animal from each new location. Whether he stole them or bought them, you didn’t mind. The theme was baby versions of animals whenever he could find them. You had amassed a sizeable amount in a short time. You lay in the bed, surrounded by the stuffies, because half its occupants weren’t there most of the time anyway. You were wondering if Genji’s presents were doubling as baby toys. He indignantly huffed when you asked him this.
Later he confessed to Jesse and Hanzo in the Orca that his scheme had been found out, and his brother had no sympathy.
“Don’t be cheap, then!”
“It is called being frugal, Hanzo. You would go broke just trying to get a first date,” said Genji, taking a jab at Hanzo’s expensive tastes in cologne, bath oils, eyeliner, skincare, and separate combs for his hair and his fur.
“At least he pays for the things,” Jesse pointed out, when Genji would have no problem stealing them.
“As if there is honour involved in something so insignificant,” Hanzo said.
“There is to me,” Genji growled. “Who is the one who is single, and who is not?”
“Genji’s got a point, Hanz,” Jesse said. “You might try bein’ nice every once in a while.”
Hanzo squared up with the cowboy, ears flat and his tail waving. His white teeth peeked out of his sneering lips. Jesse barely twitched.
“You should work on that attitude. It’s bringin’ team morale down,” he drawled, casually puffing on his cigarillo with a finger and thumb holding it steady.
Hanzo picked a far away sniper perch to sulk in after the Orca landed.
“Sorry if that was unprofessional, Jesse,” Genji whispered to him.
“As long as we stick to the plan and come back in one piece, you two can cat fight all you want.”
Hanzo wheezed poorly contained laughter. He got a hold of himself and asked McCree if he plucked his joke from the dumpster they passed on the way over.Jesse took his cigarillo from his lips.
“Well, I’ll be.”
“He laughed,” Genji said. His chest expanded with a deep breath. He let it out slowly, placing a hand solemnly on Jesse’s shoulder. “I will make an appointment with Angela for him when we get back. He is clearly terminal.”
“Do not!”
Jesse and Genji fell against each other, snickering quietly so enemies wouldn’t hear.
Genji returned from that particular mission with a stuffed baby beaver. He found you napping with all the stuffies. What an adorable sight you made, with your pregnant belly protruding above all the stuffed animals. He had no idea you missed him so badly, and instead was drawn to join you for your nap. He added the baby beaver to the pile and then pushed some to the side so he could slot himself into the cuddle pile next to your body.
You would have remained in the bed with this surprise appearance of Genji, but you an immense need to pee and right now. You inched towards the side of the bed, dragging your extra weight along. It disturbed your bedmate. He shifted around and you stopped with your legs hanging off the side of the bed, waiting for him to greet you. Genji opened his eyes, hazy with sleepiness, and spied the stuffed animals.
“My kittens,” he cooed, sweeping his arms inwards, gathering some stuffies to his chest. He curled up around them, his tail touching his chin, and went back to sleep. You could tell he was sleeping by his peaceful, steady breathing.
You were about to pee yourself, so you quickly used the bathroom. Then you swiped your phone from the bedside table and snapped a pic of Genji cuddling his ‘babies.’ You had no idea what was going on, but you had to save this.
You woke him, and he whined at you sleepily not to show anyone because he didn’t remember talking to the stuffed animals at all. But too bad. Too late. The picture was already taken. Genji left for another mission, and now you had this darling photo to look at to comfort you while he was away.
“Hey, Angela.”
“How are you feeling? You look tired.”
You were on a first name basis with the pretty, blonde doctor now, and you knew the drill for your check-ins. You stepped on the scale, so she could record your weight gain. To be fair, a medical program was automatically recording all the data for perusal at Angela’s convenience.
“I am, but I’m fine otherwise I think.”
“That’s good. I’m tired as well,” she groaned and launched into some gossip. “Everyone is keeping me very busy. Did you hear that Tracer recalled into friendly fire for the fifth time in three months? She’s doing her best under the circumstances, but…Ugh! And I’m trying to convince Winston to switch to natural peanut butter as a compromise, but he conveniently keeps ‘forgetting’ to buy a minifridge for it. Then I just about put Jesse’s cigar out on his leg. Ahhh, but I have the best sleeps after days like that!” She grinned. “Also makes me look forward to seeing your healthy little baby bump in comparison.”
“The Winston part might be partly my fault. I ate all his bananas a week ago.”
“That’s alright. He’s an adult; it’s squarely on him,” she said, pointing at her shoulders. “Come, come. Sit.”
You sat on the exam table.
“My favourite part! Hearing the tiny heartbeat.” She took the stethoscope from around her neck. “Athena, bring up the audio feed for the mother to hear.”
“Yes, Dr. Ziegler.”
Angela played your heartbeat for you. Then the baby’s. You got a little light-headed each time with the realization that a tiny life was growing inside you. You cupped your belly tenderly.
“Almost makes me want to give up being a doctor to have children,” Angela said wistfully.
You looked up in surprise.
“What?”
She chuckled. “Got you!”
“Whatever,” you muttered with a smile.
“You know what’s next,” she said. You did, lying back on the exam table so the medical equipment could scan your uterus. “Let me just quickly go over your stuff here…” she said, walking over to the console.
You waited patiently. You wished Genji were here, but that was no surprise.
“Wait,” the doctor said. You sat up, already on alert. “Am I that tired? Did I forget you were having twins?”
Dr. Ziegler was squinting at the screen and rubbing her cheek in deep confusion, while you fought the urge to flail about in panic. No, you did not mention twins!
“Wait,” she said again. This time you deflated onto the exam table, already done with the surprises. “This one is reading as a few weeks younger. That cannot be…”
You nodded to everything she said, trying to ignore the lack of blood flowing to your brain. Dr. Ziegler released you for now, intending to study the results of the scans of the second baby. You dumbly walked down the hallway with your hands to your baby bump, until a thought smacked you like a pebble to the head. Genji was still not here, again! You fisted your hands angrily and jogged back to your room. You paced back and forth at the foot of your bed. The object of your anger was out on a mission, again.
Athena had to say your name twice before you realized she trying to get your attention.
“Athena! Right, sorry,” you said, depositing your rear on the bed. “What can I do for you?”
“An audio transmission for you from Agent Genji.”
You adjusted the position of your feet needlessly and smoothed invisible wrinkles on the stomach of your shirt.
“Alright. Connect us, please.”
Your beloved’s voice spoke your name, warmly drifting down from the ceiling.
“You!” you seethed.
“What? I-”
“Another baby! Angela says I’m pregnant with a second baby! Appeared out of nowhere! …I think,” you added quickly. “I don’t know…” A tsumani of angst came crashing over your anger, snuffing it. “And you’re not here!” you wailed.
You tried not to be selfish and blame Genji for not being here, but you just did. You failed. You were overwhelmed and alone. You stared at the floor, waiting to be chastised for not handling it better. Genji had never lost his patience with you before. Maybe this time you went too far.
“You may have to explain to me again what that means when I arrive home. For now, go see Angela. Please try not to stress too much. We will get through this. Together.”
“The transmission has ended,” said Athena.
“Thank you, Athena,” you said sadly.
“You’re welcome.”
“Together,” was Genji’s last word to you. Of course he had your back with this. You were foolish to think otherwise. Still, the prospect of two babies to take care of was daunting. Hopefully, Angela had an explanation of where the second baby came from, and soon. And maybe…she was mistaken about the whole thing. You had mixed feelings about that. For now, all your previous emotions receded, leaving you drained and raw. You fell back onto the bed, needing another nap.
I decided to combine the both, I didn’t want to hurt Genji any more than I’m already doing. But first anon, thank you for your encouragement! I also wish you good luck on your blog because yes, it is tough, and you’re tough for doing it! So GOOD ON YOU! And second anon, I’m not going to hit anyone. Just myself. In the heart. With feels. Thank you both for requesting! I hope this is okay.
On Guard
“I hope my…performance was to your safitacati–satisfaction, Master Shimada.”
Your sonkeigo–polite Japanese–was clumsy on your lips, spilling forth like water against a steep bed of uneven rocks as you made your report to Shimada Sojiro. The man was regal even when wearing little more than the equivalent of pajamas–jinbei, you later remember–and a happi over his shoulders. Beside him were his two heirs–Hanzo and Genji Shimada. Surrounding you are your future colleagues, dressed in the same suit you were (and some with bandages as an indicator of the ass-whooping you’ve bestowed upon them during your test.)
“In light of your abilities, I will assign you to my son, Genji.” The announcement makes your heart swell and you fight the smile that tries to make it way onto your face–you’re well on your way to completing your mission of infiltration and information gathering. However, the young man in question rolls his eyes and sticks his tongue out for which his brother smacks him in the shoulder for. “The head of his guards, Asahi, will guide you. I expect you both to take care of each other.”
You bow deeply. “I understand, Master Shimada. Thank you for this honor.”
“Peh, don’t be so happy about it, newbie,” your new master calls with almost childish disdain. “We’ll see just how much of an honor it is.”
Patience, it seems, is going to have to be your greatest and most elusive ally.
Sister!reader gets scooped up along with Genji. I think to think it was McCree, Gabe, possibly Moira or Mercy who managed to get them out. They went in for Genji, but sister!reader was just there… so they decided they might as well take her too. Any Shimada would make for a good agent ;). Sister’s there with him throughout all the “medical” stuff. When Genji is put together enough to walk, he’s her main trainer. And they train endlessly. For Genji it’s a means of blowing off steam and keeping his mind occupied, all while teaching his sister to be a better ninja, the more trained she is the less he has to worry about her.
The training sessions get really intense a lot. Genji pins her, and she struggles and fights to get away from him. They’re so close constantly and the noises she makes while she’s struggling are… lewd. No matter how much Genji might try to be mature the grunts and whines from his own sister never fail to give him a boner. Sometimes he has nightmares when he tries to sleep so his sister will sleep with him, and he gets turned on then too. And he feels absolutely guilty about it, it’s just wrecking him that he can’t stop looking at his baby sister in a romantic light.
I want to be angsty about the tension break. Genji one day has just had it and completely breaks down. He’s had it with his new body, he’s had it with his new way of life, with his own emotions, and now he’s in love with his sister? Could he be any more fucked up? Of course sister!reader is there trying to help him through it, and for some reason he’s trying to push her away, she just doesn’t understand it. Until he caves and tells her what he’s been feeling and how she shouldn’t trust him to be close to her anymore. Sister just leans forward and kisses him, tells him that she feels the same way about him. Suddenly it’s meltdown taken care of.
What if instead, during his breakdown, he’s actually angry and accidentally hurts his sister while she’s trying to calm to him down? She’s hugging him, and his arm flies out and hits her in the face. He sees the injury and feels awful. It only adds to his angst. He bails from Overwatch right then and there, believing he’s a monster. A Hanzo #2, to a lesser degree.
a/n: didn’t think that i was up for writing anything today, but looks like i wanted to write some hanahaki au for my boy Genji.
It’s sad, that’s all you can think or feel when you see those bright little yellow primroses that you cradled so delicately in the palm of your hand. Laughter was all that came as a result, hurting you as you did so. More pain wracked your already weak form, making breathing even more of a task when more flowers forced their way from your lungs, up your throat and out of your mouth.
You couldn’t handle the pitying look you were given. Another person is going to be lost to Hanahaki.
It’s sad, just how much you care about him. Someone who looks for love in others and then moves onto the next. How many people had he caused to perish from those unreturned feelings?
Genji Shimada, you’d fallen for him so quickly the youngest heir to the Shimada Clan slipped through your defense, pulling your heart and seeing how vulnerable he was when he was not with someone connected to the clan. It made his death hurt even more, as that is when those little blooms tried to suffocate you.
Primroses.
The meaning behind those flowers hurt. I can’t live without you. How sad. How cruel. How tragic. How such a beautiful little bloom with such a heavy meaning behind it, will be the ending to your life. What’s even funnier is that you love these little blossoms. These small harbingers of your own demise.
It was hard, but when you made the choice to remove these feelings, it hurt but it needed to be done. Genji is gone and you had to move on, even if it meant that you would lose these feelings you cared so dearly for. You save some of the blooms, wanting to remember these feelings. To show how real they were even after they were removed.
A reminder of your love for Genji.
Ten years later, you learn that Geji is still alive. The cyborg becoming a fixture in your life once again, almost as if he had never ‘died’ it’s only when you see him coughing up ambrosia flowers after admitting his feelings for you that you look to the white blossoms framed in your home did the meaning of his own flowers hurt.
You couldn’t save him if you couldn’t feel anything for him.
I looked up the meaning, and I have a little message for you under the cut:
(Tumblr deleted my answer to this once already and It made me Really Sad but here you go love!)
Genji saw it in the way you smiled.
The way you said you weren’t that hungry. That you were too tired to go to training that day.
He saw it in the way your shoulders slouched when you thought no one was looking. As if some invisible force was weighing you down, claws forcing your mouth into a smile that didn’t meet your eyes.
He tried to support you in every way he knew how; Taking you to Zenyatta for guidance, offering to go with you to see a doctor or a therapist, even offering to take you far away from whatever problems were haunting you at that moment so you could take the time to breathe.
In the end, none of it mattered.
When Genji left the house that day, he didn’t expect to have his life torn away from him for the second time. To have everything he had built up since his brother’s betrayal shattered in an instant.
To have the one thing he loved taken away from him.
When you told Genji that you were hungry and craving take-out, he didn’t hesitate to get it for you. You had barely eaten anything in four days, even despite the wonderful cooking Genji had done for you. You didn’t have the energy to eat, nor the drive to. He had kissed your forehead, promising to return quickly with the food. You had smiled after him, the barest trace of a real smile hiding in your lips. You watched him go, eager for him to return.
Genji did not expect to come home to find you gone, a note left in your stead.
He set down the take-out, as well as the couple groceries he had grabbed while he was waiting. He picked up the note, hands trembling slightly.
‘Genji,
I’m sorry to do this to you after all you have done for me. I need you to know that I love you dearly, but I cannot stand to see you suffer by my side any longer. You have been an amazing boyfriend, as well as a kind person. I’m sorry I have made the last few months of your life exceptionally dreary, and I hope that my leaving will allow you to move on with your life. I appreciate the effort you put into me, into trying to make me better again and show me the good that was left in the world when I thought there to be none. Unfortunately, I wasn’t good enough for you. I couldn’t be the person you deserved. Knowing this, I hope you don’t shed tears for me. Please, move on. Find someone who can fill your life with happiness; someone who can stand by your side as an equal, not a project that needs to be worked on.
I’m sorry for leaving you with the burden of my things. I tried to arrange for most of it to be gone by now, but I knew that you would catch on too quickly and try to prevent me from making this decision. You can sell my things, burn them, donate them, it doesn’t matter to me. I won’t need them where I’m going. I am just going to burn anyway.
I love you, Genji Shimada. If only we had met in a different life. A life where I could have been your equal.
With Love,
Y/n.’
He dropped the letter, sprinting out the front door and down the road. He knew where you would be, where you would go. You two passed by this bridge every day on your walks, something he had hoped would clear your mind. He didn’t bother to wipe the tears running down his face, to hide the sobs that ripped from his chest. His only thought was you, praying that you were safe, praying that someone had helped you, had seen what you were going through and had managed to stop you-
He stopped at the end of the bridge. Police cars, ambulances and fire trucks all crowded the small parking lot that led to the river. People were murmuring and pointing down at the river. A police boat with three officers was returning to shore, carrying something among them. Genji turned away, falling to his knees. He screamed at the sky, screamed at every God he could think of that might answer him. People rushed to his side to see if he was alright, but he pushed them all away. He was inconsolable. The love of his life was gone, the one thing keeping him grounded to this Earth.
Genji shook his head, wiping his eyes on the sleeve of his suit. Flowers adorned your casket, varying in different colours. People walked by him, offering words of condolences and prayers. He wanted to spit at them, at those who offered him prayers and words of hope. His prayers had gone unanswered, and so would theirs.
The funeral proceeded slowly, much too slowly for Genji’s liking. He didn’t want these people to be there, to give speeches about you and how amazing you were. He wanted to be in that casket with you.
Genji didn’t lay any flowers on your casket, not as the speeches were going and not when they lowered it into the ground. He felt someone nudge him gently, as if urging him to throw a flower. He did not. Genji stayed at your grave even as the ceremony was drawing to an end. He stayed until every last person had gone. He silently cursed the sun for shining. Why did it shine? There was no happiness left in his world. There never would be again.
He carefully pulled a box out of his pocket, staring down at the deep blue velvet of the box. He opened it, delicately holding the pair of rings he had purchased two days before your death.
He placed them next to your gravestone, allowing his tears to slide down his chin, managing to hold onto the sob that threatened to rip his heart apart. He wouldn’t cry again after this day. Crying would not bring you back to him.
Warnings: Cheating, rejection Song: House of Cards by BTS (piano cover by Smyang… I may have an obsession with both of these artists heheheh) I’m not dead!! Just been stressful this week with school and family things. But I’m on spring break now! And because I haven’t written anything for a week, I’ll hopefully be updating nearly every day this week! Enjoy!
He never appreciated life and the true beauty it possessed. He never thought of others or the consequences his actions held; he always did what he wanted to do. He got all the girls he could ever want – and they always wanted him. He got you; another one of his brainwashed girls’.
You; an intelligent, independent, beautiful young woman. A soft face with an even softer voice, you were an example of the perfect girl.
The perfect girl in Hanzos’ eyes.
He never understood why you went out with a man like Genji; a stubborn, childish and spoiled manchild. You were so perfect with that dazzling smile and soft eyes of yours. Genji was a grade A asshat.
But of course, you didn’t realize that until after you saw him on top of another woman, her moans, and his own clearly telling the story of what they were doing.
Your heart felt as if it was ripped out from your chest and crushed in his hands.
The hands that were around her tiny perfect waist.
