I think everyone writes her as already dead because if she were alive, it would open a new can of worms.
What kind of character was she? If she were alive, what kind of impact would she have on Hanzo and Genji? If she were alive, why did Hanzo leave her (assuming she would stay in Japan)? Did she want him to stay, leave, or did she even care? How do her sons feel about her?
I’d rather save my efforts for characters who already exist. If we knew more about Sojiro, perhaps people would be motivated to write a wife!reader.
What if Sojiro cast her out due to some serious issues and that’s why we never see her? She’s still alive out there, somewhere, hiding from Shimada clan’s power and maybe later when she found out Sojiro has died and Shimada clan is no more, she will step out from the shadow again and looking for her child?
Possibly. But that makes me wonder, if she was alive, did Genji try to find her? Approval of who and what he is would probably help his mental state. Most people want their parents’ approval. And love.
I’m getting serious Avatar vibes here. Is it Zuko’s family all over again?
I wouldn’t blame Mrs Shimada if she wanted no part of the painful bullshit and left after Hanzo was ordered to murder Genji.

I don’t know if y’all know this. But I am first and foremost, and most importantly, a Shimada whore. And I just want Blizz would give Mama Shimada a God damn name and sliver of lore like they did with Sojiro, cause that’s all I needed to be able to write him. I just wanna write about Mama Shimada being a lesbian with her precious, sexually confused daughter
Not necessarily for those reasons, but I do want to know about their mother too!! Something that might explain how Genji or Hanzo turned out. Or at least, something I can use as a jumping off point to make my own shit up!!
Genji can make anyone else scream out of pleasure, and most others would beg him to cum. Cum inside them, on them. But with his brother, Hanzo is like his white wale. He can never turn him into putty. Hanzo’s yet to actually let him cum when they fuck, and the one time Genji couldn’t resist, Hanzo didn’t let him fuck him for weeks as punishment. Hanzo gets off on the control, and how no matter how much he might take his playboy brother down peg after peg, Genji’s still coming back to him to see if this time he can earn the right to cum inside him.
You had plenty of time on your hands sitting at your desk at work. You got into brewing coffee properly and ordered better coffee grounds than the watchpoint previously had. Other agents besides Angela started stopping by for your coffee. You became known for it. Angela noticed you weren’t drinking it yourself and bought a separate machine to keep yourself stocked with decaf.
“There’s money for this?” you asked. “When I joined, I was sleeping in a cot.”
Angela shot you a knowing look with eyebrows high and said, “Investors.”
You let that sink in, then you asked, “So people know about us then?”
