Genji’s heart absolutely breaks when he hears that first tearful wail claw it’s way past your lips, the broken sobs and pauses in your breathing from crying have him wrapping you up in his arms in no time. The soft, soothing shushing, and hand running through your hair and the slight back and forth rocking that follows after he pulls you into his lap.
Letting you hide your face against his form, it’s now that Genji wishes his body was a little bit kinder to lean against, but he just holds you close. Helping you to calm down, and wiping away the tears that slipped from your eyes while you calmed down.
Removing his mask from his face, Genji placed his forehead against yours while you regained control of your breathing, and using your sleeve to wipe your nose and tears.
“I’m sorry.” your voice is broken, quite and shaky from crying. If it is possible for someone to hold you closer, then Genji does and presses kisses all over your face.
“You never have to apologize for crying. Never.” Genji’s voice is firm, and he holds you close for as long as he feels is okay to keep you tucked against his body before he deems it time to cuddle in the bed. Something that gets a laugh and a small smile out of you, that just lights up Genji’s world and he cannot resist the urge to give you another small kiss.
